The State of the Great Commission

CV was one of 150 global experts who contributed to the ‘State of the Great Commission’ report which was published this month by the Lausanne Movement

The comprehensive report is available in seven languages (English, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, French, Korean, and Chinese) and envisions the future of the Church’s mission up to 2050.

Earlier this year, during the online launch of the report, CV Global Partnerships Manager, Nick Parker, hosted one of five breakout sessions.

His session, ‘Digital’, was of particular interest, drawing insights from CV’s co-authored section of the report, ‘Proclamation Evangelism in the Digital Age’.

Nick discussed the impact of using digital tools to share the gospel, as well as the new opportunities digital evangelism brings to reach people in previously hard-to-reach locations.

The report noted, ‘These exponential advancements of the digital age present an unprecedented opportunity for the proclamation of the good news.’ It also supported the use of innovative evangelistic approaches by emphasising God as ‘the ultimate, creative, and eternal innovator and proto-evangelist’.

CV’s impactful work and creative approaches to evangelism were also presented at the launch, with the report stating, ‘Leading Christian digital innovators are exploring how digital proclamation can lead to online discipleship and authentic Christian communities.’

The State of the Great Commission report is a key document that will be used at the fourth congress of the Lausanne Movement, an event being held in South Korea this September. With an expected 5,000 people set to attend and thousands more joining online, this event will accelerate the collaboration of the Church towards the fulfilment of the Great Commission in 2050.

As the digital landscape evolves, CV remains dedicated to developing new strategies to fulfil the Great Commission, and is honoured to collaborate with the Lausanne Movement to produce this report.
